Put in for the units with big numbers of cows tags.   That's where the elk density is higher than they want.

please do not put in for an area that you aren't familiar with or dont even know at all. i ran across a hunter from the west side that had a umtanum 342 cow tag in the cowichie 368 looking for cows. he saw the road name athanum thought he was in the right unit.  :bash: DO YOUR HOMEWORK

You live in Yakima and you're asking us where the elk are.  I guess if you don't know where elk are or where to put in I should just stay home.

There aren’t any elk anywhere near Yakima.  Try up around Spokane; I hear they have some elk.

You probably have some of the best elk hunting in the state right in your back yard.  Get out and scout look at draw odd and numbers and find out what's the best hunt for you.

Maybe you should reword this post. You are looking to fill a cow tag, and want to join a seasoned hunter. Someone who clearly see's cow's every year in his unit. If I lived in Yakima, I would be out scouting everyday till the season opener. You have the most access in the state right at your backdoor. Good luck.

Rick

If I still lived over there and had your tag I would put in for the cowiche. Close and easy to scout and consistently has one of the highest harvest for elk in the Yakima GMUs. My second pick would be little naches.

Id personally go for the nile or bumping just because they will prob be more a centralized location and that terrain can be thick where they like to hide. If i was modern id put all my pts in those areas. High and deep.
