No registration required unless you are using it in federal waters (i.e. Puget Sound, lower Columbia).

JLS so, just the normal tags on the trailer, and nothing on the boat?

Just call the DMV. They have rules on boat length, motor size, etc. I just cant remember what they are. Seems like your boat is going to need licensing from what I recall.

(8) A vessel under sixteen feet in overall length that has no propulsion machinery of any type or that is not used on waters subject to the jurisdiction of the United States or on the high seas beyond the territorial seas for vessels owned in the United States and are powered by propulsion machinery of ten or less horsepower

From RCW 88.02.570, exemptions from vessel registration.

Your trailer will need licensed.

You have to be careful with the water your in, even if it's not the sound or the columbia.  If I understand it correctly, if its a tributory river of the columbia, it counts as federally controlled.  Same with some lakes, that they might be under the feds control even though it isn't apparent.  I might be wrong, it's been a couple of years since I've looked into this.
The only difference between a butt kisser and a brown noser is depth perception.

You had better check the lakes that you intend to fish..Yeas some lake are clasified as "FEDRAL WATER" were as you boat will need tags. Its only about 10 or 12  bucks.. Better to be safe than sorry.
