buying a bow again

I'm getting back in the archery elk game after a few years sitting out giving modern firearm seasons a shot. Can't really say ill miss hunting elk with a gun

It's been 5 years sense i shot a bow. Or even handled one in stores. I'm going to start looking this month and i want to get a heads up before hand on which bows i should look at and ones to steer clear off. I will be buying a 2012 model, maybe 2011 if i find a good sale
For those of you who have shot a few of the new bows and could give a fair comparison that would be much appreciated. I only have a phone to check reviews out on and its rather annoying at times.

My last bow was a diamond black ice. And we all know how good of a shooter that bow is.

There are a ton of great bows out there.  It really comes down to what bow fits you the best.  To help answer your question the first thing to know is your budget.  How much are you planning on spending, bow, sight, rest and arrows.  Nothing is cheap and you can get well over $1500 in a blink of an eye.  Also where do you live?  Steering you to a good shop will be the best start.

Don't overlook the deals on the 2011 bows... some great deals to be had,  you can save 4-500 easily.

There is a lot of great bows out there. I own and shoot a lot of them. My hunting bow this year is the new bear anarchy a great bow. Bear has a great line up and a lot of bows to fit different people, plus a wide range on the price range. Make sure you check them out

I have an unlimited budget. Finding the best feeling bow is what matters and i won't settle for less due to price.

Can i get some names of archery shops close to Olympia? I know of wholesale sports and Cabelas

You need to find a shop that has a bunch of different bows so you can try them out.
I liked the carbon element over the carbon matrix, and almost went with the Matthews.  Need to try them and pick what shoots for you, so you need a shop that has a selection and who will configure the bows for you to test shoot.

I got my 2011 Z7 Magnum for 575 on Archerytalk.com! There are some really good bows on there for awesome prices and you can get alot of personal reviews too!  best brands IMO

If budget is no issue then you are going to have fun.  Here is another great piece of advice.  If you want a 100% professional experience do yourself a favor and take a drive down to Rainier Oregon and Visit Cory at xXx archery, tell him Matt sent you.  He carries Bowtech, Hoyt and PSE.  It will be well worth your drive.  If you are just getting back into it steer clear of Sportsmans or Cabelas.

All I have shot is the PSE bows, love them. I just got a new Dream Season EVO and I'm quite impressed with how it shoots, smooth draw, quiet and not jump in your hand. My son now gets my older bow, a PSE Vengeance which I have shot for 6 years and it still shoot fantastic.

Good luck with your search, everyone is right shoot multiple bows before you make a choice.

I would suggest Lucky Shot in Chehalis.  They are great and it is a good place to shoot shop or just hang out.  They carry Mathews and Bowtech and will take time with you to shoot em all and decide what you may want.  I dumped bowtech due to poor customer service and shoot Mathews z7xtreme now and wow am I happy!  z9 very easy accurite shooter as well if youre a long draw guy.  My second choice was hoyt carbon but felt z7 smoother with less vibration quieter and forgiving.  We all have favorites and most are good bows.  Cust. serv. is a big deal to me and a valley so far left your sight falls off landed my bowtech in the trash after 4 trips to eugene and three sets of limbs delaminating and the warranty manager yelling at me for talking to him because I was not a Dealer!

I just picked up a Mathews Helim and love it.  Light vary smooth and shoots great.  If you make it to XXX archery witch is well worth the drive go across the river to bobs sporting goods and shooth mathews also. Have fun!!!

i have one too and i love it, and would definitely recommend it! but i would just try different types and see what u like best and what fits you
