Places to hunt coyotes.

Hello to all, I am trying to get into coyote hunting. I have been around firearms my whole life, but have not gotten into hunting very much yet. So i have decided to head out and look for some dogs. I have calls and a gun, now i just need a place and some tips. All help is welcome. Thanks.

Are you looking for a certain area?  Like eastside vs westside?  For westside I see them in the roads or in clearcuts.  Calling is effective, but with all the baby critters about to be born, it might be less effective (they will have more, real things to chase).  Heard there are some really big ones on the eastside.

If you are real serious about learning to be a coyote hunter and have the means, I'd call or PM someone on here like Jerry Malbeck.  It may cost you a few bucks, but your learning curve will spike and you will save a pile of time, energy and money learning things the ol' fashoned way of trial and error.

Start by looking for public land within acceptable driving range. People will give you plenty of help, but not so willing to share "thier" spots. Alot of research and legwork goes into find good land to hunt.

This may seem like a silly question. But, if i come upon a spot that looks good to me, how can i be sure if it is okay to hunt there or not?

Find out who the landowner is through one of these resources....

1. County Assessors Website
2. WDFW GoHunt Maps
3. BLM Ownership Maps
4. DNR Ownership Maps     More DNR Maps

Then contact said landowner and inquire about any rules or restrictions.
