also partial to turkey tetrazinni

I love the Turkey T, Lot's of Protein to boot.  I also like the new "Wraps"  pretty much just chicken breast in different sauces.  Tons of protein and I eat it with my squished whole wheat bagel.

Try the http://www.packitgourmet.com/ meals.  They are pretty good.  I highly recommend the ramen rescue.  It does help.

Mountain house.
Most MRE's make me yack. Veggie omelet makes me yack at the thought :puke:
Might have something to do with living off them in the 120+ degree heat though.

The backpackers pantries are good to. Pad ti... MMMMM

Yup.  There's something about MREs that flips a switch in your head when you get to the point where you have to eat them day after day, or when you crave them (like we did in Ranger School).  Once you go back to real food, it's pretty hard to enjoy an MRE again.  Changing the menus helps, but they're still MREs.
They still have that "I am not going to decompose for 200 years because of the experimental chemical that is in this bag" smell to them....
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Always field strip the MRE's and pack both, i like to add in powdered potatoes to my MH meals. Taste is questionable....though i view it more as "Body fuel". Once we break spike camp on day 4 and re-supply I usually eat something with taste then.

The best thing about MREs is that you can eat them cold. The worst thing is they give me real bad gas! :bdid:

PACK KIT dehydrated meals all the way. Google their website, buy some and then try some...I am sure that you will like these gourmet backcountry treats. Best backcountry food there is period. They are priced competetively as well:) Mountain house will not come close.

I'm a Mountain House fan as well. Costco is selling them by the case for a savings of about $2 per meal.

If I have access to water, than a Mountain House style food it is.  Last season I carried my new Jet Boil and it felt good having a hot meal.  I have used MRE's a lot over the years, but now I only have a couple in the truck for emergency or unplanned hikes.

I know there are at least of few of you out there that are Gluten intolerant so i thought i would share some information with you. This is some info i got from a National Guard's men that talked about what he uses for his 2 week stint of training while out in the field... I think it provides a good bit of info for anyone doing back county hunting with Wheat problems.

This year I am taking some ready made meals from "My Own Meals" (they have five gluten-free varieties and they are similar to MRE entrees), Goldbaum's "Wonder Meals", St Dalfour Canned "Gourmet on the Go", Tanka Buffalo Bars & Jerky, Larabars (Cashew Cookie is my favorite). I also end up eating more than my share of boiled eggs, shelf stable breads (Schar or Ener-G Brand), and lots of vegetables as you can imagine. Also there are several protein bars that work out for me -Purefit has a meal replacement bar with 18 grams of protein - easy to pack for a day or. Quest bars have 20 grams of protein. Then I take canned cocount waters, nut milks in individual packages.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
