I sure hope everyone knows I'm kidding with a lot of these posts. Having been on here for so many years I know all the "hot buttons". I did draw the Margaret Muzzy cow tag and guarantee I will bust my arse trying to fill it. I've been putting in for bull tags only for the last 20 years (unsuccessfully) so I decided to put in for a cow tag so I could actually go hunt elk in this state. The state actually did me a favor when they divided up the tags (quality, bull, antlerless) since I had max points.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying "stay to the Left", I think the better hunting is on the RIGHT side of the Highway. I spent all last season in there and had all kinds of ELK ACTION and didn't see a single person. Best hunting ever.. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Since everyone is asking for help finding their units, can someone help me locate Pumice Plains?

Weyco. has sold out and lots of the Left side of the HWY is posted "no trespassing".  Pretty much everything from east of  Elk Rock to the end at Coldwater is now no trespassing!   You can't get to the upper (east part of the unit) and you can't get into the USFS portion from the Highway either.  Basically the margaret sure ain't what it used to be.  You'll be pounding the brush in the lower elevation, or (I heard) paying for access to the private land near the Monument.   That leaves only one real place to hunt--the backcountry.

I'll be right next door hiking my (we'll you know) off in the Whittier Unit.

Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

You won't have to bust nothing but a cap on that hunt, you won't even have to take your romeo's off for that one!
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

If you would like, I can get a camo camper that we could sit in, play cards and drink beer while waiting for the elk to show up to our alfalfa pile.  I heard it is a great way to take a big bull in the Margaret.  Afterwards we could go to the Home Depot in Chehalis and hire a couple of "migrant workers" from the parking lot to pick up beer cans, gut, skin and haul the elk out for you.  You won't have to get dirty or sober!

Wow, sounds like a guided hunt. :chuckle:

I actually like to work hard during the day and have the beers around the campfire at night.

So you are saying the area north of Cold Water Lake is off limits?
The area directly N. of the Lake (USFS) is in their bogus "restricted area" with $100 fine for stepping off trail.  From the Monument boundary north (the High Lakes Area) was SOLD and partly subdivided.  Heard the developer is charging and this also blocks access to open USFS land.  Gates posted "no trespassing".  You can still get to the Green River area IF weyco. has their gates open.
