Used my Quality and cow points in the same year...
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:33:43 PM »
So i have read so many times that people wish they could turn a tag back in and get there points back. Well i am glad i got both. I drew a late cow hunt here on the wetside with my son. And a quality rifle rut hunt. So now i get to hunt my ass off in september and if Mr. Big decides not to step out and present me with a shot i will still get to shoot a cow later in the season.

It is almost like insurance.

Would a cow tag as back up change your outlook on the quality of bull you look for. I would really like to shoot for a 300" bull but a large 5 or symetrical 6 would be nice. Am i asking to much of this tag?

I'd take both over none also.

Quality and a cow tag is way better than quality and a bull tag,  Someone else on here has that
If it aint broke, dont fix it.

I used to be worried about getting drawn for more than one at a time but with my luck . . . very slight chance.

That is a great tag and a 300" is not too much to ask for. Do your scouting and you'll see for youself. Have fun with that tag. Practice up on your bugling skills!

300 is not to much to ask for in that unit at all! I would set your standards even higher. There are some really nice bulls in that unit.

Littlehunter i would hunt the Watershed. Seen some masher bulls come out of there. I don't rifle hunt much. This year was special, i only put in for rut hunts because i didn't think i would get drawn. Put in rifle just for a cow tag for my son. We partnered up so we would have a better chance of being drawn.

The little turd is 12 and has drawn 2 permits now. I drew my first 2 permits this year, 14 points gone...

My buddy at work double drew this year also. He drew the muzzy bull Margaret, that I put in for and and Mt view, so I guess that Margaret tag is going to the way side. Man that's just a harder pill to swallow then the not selected that I'm use to. Hope to go over and help him out since I've been in that unit before. Lucky dog....
