QUESTION ON TRAIL CAMS AND ONE PICTURE OF DEER
«
on:
June 13, 2012, 02:09:28 PM »
Hello All,
1.
So I am sure this has been covered but I could not find it.
I have been running Bushnell trail cams both 2010 and 2011 models for a while and their triggers seem slow and the picture inconsistent.
I have been using 2-3 per site to make sure I get everything, where they are coming from and where they ( they being critters) are going and when...
So I am like hmmm, rather then run 2-3 get really good ones..
I am leaning towards Reconyx any thoughts or opinions?
2. Next I am attaching a picture of a Deer I got on cam... I am wondering what more experienced hunters think his rack might turn into... is he a spike? or what? It looks thick.

From what I am seeing I would say that his rack would turn into a mount on my wall if I were given the oppurtunity.

With the Roconyx you are going to get what you pay for, pretty much bettery all the way around. The Bushnells sometime have a blind spot right in the middle of the detection view from what I have heard. My guess is that buck will be branching. I have only see a few deer out there so far that are starting to branch. Most are still spikes.

Dude he is going to be a great BT buck. Hard to say how many points on each side but he's way ahead of the game on mainframe mass!!!

Looks like he'll be good one. He's got good mass compared to others I've seen lately and alot of growth. By the look of his body and face he's a mature buck. Hopefully you can keep tabs on him!

are you running trophy cams? I haven't noticed the slow trigger with mine, yet I havent put up a back up cam to see what I'm missing either. Looks like that's going to be a tall heavy buck, probably a 2x2, but a dang good one. Hope to see more pics of him in velvet!

Nice buck. We need to see a side view to see if the antlers are starting to split yet. Sure looks like it ought to end up being more than a 2 point, but with just that picture it's hard to say.

last year I started testing my cams.. hung 3 different brands in same direction on the same settings and was amazed what each cam missed!! some were 100-200 less pics than the other..on a side note the Bushnell trophy cam consistently had more pics taken than all the rest

But you didn't try the Reconyx either as it has better everything, trigger speed, detection range, etc. But it will cost you about 5 bills.

Thanks for the input all!
I have hunted all my life but maybe not hardcore.... between work and the military etc etc, so now that I have a boy getting into it hardcore etc etc blah blah.
Anyway love the game cams cause you can see whats there, they are really fun.
Thanks for the thoughts on the Buck...
@bobcat ....
I have attached a picture of the buck from the side.. also a bear just for chit chat, bear seems decent for sure. but alais... it has cubs and unless they get run off this year... will be a non shooter for me come fall, so my kids can shoot the cubs some day
Also I am in the Sammamish North Bend Area so anyone want to hunt together like, with military planning and precision drop me a line.

The buck is most definitely going to split. My opinion will just be a big 2 point. Most the deer in my area have what they are going to have by the 4th of July.

I checked Ebay.. But Reconyx says that if it is not purchased from an authorized reconyx dealer the warrenty is void, they also specifically warn and point out ebay.. I shall keep searching. But thanks for the suggestion.
