Antelope hunt
« on: February 06, 2019, 06:29:52 PM »
Would like to do a modern rifle antelope hunt in Wyoming. Does anyone have experience hunting the Spearhead Ranch. It would be one of their "on your own" hunts. Appreciate any feed back.

I have hunted wyoming antelope half a dozen times in the last 15 years and my advice is to not waste your money on going to any kind of ranch or trespass  fee areas. There is plenty of public ground in wyoming and plenty of antelope. Draw the best unit you can with the points you have and print out a my topo map and get the landowner chip for your gps or phone. With the chip it's clear private and public boundaries then put some miles on your rig and put some time behind your binos and spotter and be patient.  Antelope are hard to judge so do some research on feild scoring before you go and don't shoot the first decent buck. Every unit in wyoming has the potential for book antelope you just need to pick over alot of goats to find one. Antelope hunting is a blast there is alot of animals and fun open country to hunt. Pick up some leftover doe tags while your there and have  some fun. Learning the area on your own and finding the animals is half the fun no need for ranch or outfitter unless your looking for a giant and know they have one there.
