bear shoulder mount

just got my shoulder bear mount back from the taxi on a spring bear shot on Memorial Day weekend. wish the lighting in my house was better so you could the detail. Obviously not the biggest bear on the mountain but sure had a pretty coat. first bear i had done with a shoulder mount. He's doing a 1/2 body mount on the one I shot last fall with only 1 front leg so eagerly awaiting that. Thanks to the wife for having a living memorial in our family room....bear + full size otter + black tail (bow kill) + european moose mount shot near Chewelah...not bad relaxing after a hard day enjoying my favorite beverage thinking about hunting.....she wants to get a cougar with her bow so i've got a spot reserved for that....life could be worse !

Great mount. I like the dark brown muzzle color on a black bear, as opposed to the lighter color. Is that a little bit of a white patch on his chest? Those shoulder mounts sure seem practical if you don't have the space for a huge rug.

yeah he was cool with the jet black hair, dark muzzle and the little white patch on the chest. I've got a rug from another bear i shot in the early 90's out of Colville that was 6'7" from nose to tail, jet black and he had a white "chevron" on the chest. wanted to get a shoulder mount done on one...he had a really nice pelt on him...this was one of three bears i've shot in the Copalis unit the last two years and the other two didn't have the white patch on their chest....they were all black but he was the smallest but had the best coat...looks good on the wall

do you have any harvest pictures you could post on this thread to show what he looked like freshly killed vs how he looks now?

Good looking bear, nice to have the support at home!
My wife (girlfriend at the time) didn't have much of a choice. She once told me when we were younger that my deer antlers wouldn't be allowed in the living room.
I told her we'd have problems if that was the case, now five years later, I've got three sets of antlers in the living room. Now the kicker will be if she'll allow: three skull plaques I'm working on, shoulder mount blacktail, bull elk skull and the half body bear mount I'm going to order!
