Late Season Elk ML - Wet Side
« on: September 30, 2022, 10:50:49 AM »
Anyone have any good pointers for hunting elk in the late season? I've got a bull and a spike on my cameras within the past month. I wasn't planning on hunting Elk this year since I only have a modern firearm and I'm tired of the crowds. But now I am considering getting an ML and hitting the range until late season.

On the westside in December, should I be bugling? cow calling? The unit I'm hunting in has very few opportunities for spot and stalk. It's mostly heavily wooded.

There’s a bunch of elk minds on here better than mine. I wouldnt bugle in December, cow calls won’t hurt, but keep in mind this late in the year they have been hunted by everyone already. A lot of the bulls bunch up in December. And cows/spikes get herded up and feed/bed as normal. That’s observations from hunting late muzzle the last 2 years. There can still be crowds also..
