Got my setup already, what do you guys think?
You can borrow it if a want, i wont need it after the evening before opening day...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I've overheard people at Sportsman Warehouse the evening before elk season buying a muzzleloader.  :o

Or how about the guy that buys a rifle the day before season and only bore sights it..... :dunno:    :yike:

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

1 week, you have plenty of time to become proffecient. Your probably a quick learner as well. Me not so much, I have to shoot at least 3000+ arrows a year to maintain. I would suggest buying the most expensive set-up you can find. In archery you really do get what you pay for.

Flashlight guy never came back.....big surprise.

I completely disagree with getting the latest and greatest compound bow. Everyone knows that traditional archery is far more simple and easy to pick up. No cams, no sights, no stabilizers.....nothing but purity in flight. Also, you can't shoot more than 8 yards and kill anything so how can you miss?

I thought I heard he got turned in and got into trouble but I can't remember seeing confirmation of this.

I don't remember the specifics. I know there was a blood letting on the forum but when things like that come up most people just fade away.

I see it every year. My range is always quiet until the masses show up a week before the season take all the lanes up and take forever to find their arrows because they can't even hit the targets. :bash:

You sound like 80% of the guys in the archery dept of Cabela's right now.   :chuckle:  I use to love to go to Cabela's or Sportsman's Whorehouse a week  before every big game opener and check out all the cityots buying brand new bows or rifles for a hunt in "just a couple of days".   :bash: :chuckle:  I worked with a guy at the brewery who ordered a new bow from Cabela's (before we had a store), got it 3 days before season, was able to hit a paper plate at 10 yards and dalled it good.  He wounded and lost 4 does in the first week of season.   I can imagine how many other do the same thing.   :bash: :bash:

 :yeah:
Honestly, the majority of the guys that I run into in the woods or just in conversation, i wouldn't trust with a bow.  I know far too many people who feel that a 6-8 inch group at 30 yards is "good enough" and don't bother to practice out any further.  These are the same guys who I hear the same story from every G.D. year that they lost at least one animal and that take 60-70 yard shots without ever shooting that distance.  It happens with every weapon not just archery.
