Teanaway Bull Permit
« on: October 09, 2008, 12:44:27 PM »
My grandpa got drawn for the teanaway bull permit and the season starts pretty soon.   We have made a couple scouting trips over there but we just havent been seeing any elk. Ive heard this is a good tag but we are having trouble finding the elk.  We have only been going up the nth. fork teanaway road and to red top mountain.  Does anyone know where there is some good herds at?  Hes not looking for a monster bull just decent. he is 73 and cant do alot of walking but any areas would help.

I would stay low if it were me. If you're going up on Red Top I'd say that's too high.

I had the archery tag last year and i think the rifle tag is after that . If so all the elk will be down low .  The best advice i can give is to start esking for permission right now . Some big boys in there . pm me if you need any info

Look at a map to see where im talkinb about, then Get on teanaway road.  You will know where dickey creek is from the map.  Its still on the paved road.  Park there.  Walk cross the big field, cross the river, and head into the valley that will take you back in.  Very nice area and Very good for elk.

Also down low off the west fork rd.  There is some gated roads.  Another good area for elk.

When your driving the paved rd in, You pass the westfork rd, keep going on the northfork rd.  Its the thinned out area on your left.  You will also see a big pull out here.  The first gated road to your left after the houses.  That is public and thats also a good area.

I dont have this tag but have fun and this is info worth looking at.  I wish you luck.
