Backpacking trip for 4th of July
« on: June 25, 2013, 09:26:30 AM »
My wife and I want to do a 4 day trip next week. Anything melted out yet? I dont care if its West or East, just want to get away and get a test run in for my new equipment.

Thanks!

You mean Independence Day

Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine....
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

As per your question. I'm of no help.  Let us know if you find a place.

Things are melting pretty good in the Wenatchee Valley. It has been raining the past day and a half and then it is supposed to get up into the upper 90's by the weekend. Are you looking to hike in a ways or what are you looking for?

I see you live in Puyallup. My friend just did a hike near the Carbon River, up near Coplay Lake. He drove to the Summit Lake/Bearhead Mountain trail head then hiked up Bearhead, less than a week ago. Apparently Twin Lake (approximately 4800 feet) is half melted out and Bearhead (just over 6000 feet) has ten feet of snow. Based on his report, you should be able to avoid snow if you stay below 4,000 feet.
