Snake river smallmouth fishing

So a few friends and myself are doing a smallmouth bass trip to the snake river next weekend. We know a really good area up by Lewiston/Clarkston. I am just curious if there is good fishing closer to the mouth of the Snake? Like maybe around the mouth of the Palouse? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have caught fish all the way from lyons ferry up to the mouth of the grand ronde.  The fish should be spread out but the mouth of the Palouse should have fish as well.

Guy at work drifted the Rhonde this last weekend didn't kill em but caught a lot of quality fish. Said the water was fast but we checked the flow and it is dropping like a rock so it should get better for the quantity.

could you get a prop boat up there? I have wanted to fish it as well but afraid of running a fiberglass and prop boat

Unless you really know the river I would suggest staying around Clarkston or below. The river above there isn't really fiberglass boat water unless its a drift boat. I've caught plenty of bass around Lyons Ferry but nothing with any real size. Good luck!

I used to launch above little goose and did way better there than below the dam. The riprap on the left going up was good, primarily were there were gullies coming down, they continue into the water and also the back of the bays in the weeds. Actually me and my son had one of the best days I have ever had in one of them casting spinner baits. It was maybe 100 yards across, we would get 5 to 10 every time, turn around and do the same thing for probably 5 hrs. And they were 2 to 3 lbs. But that was probably 10 years ago or more and I haven't been back.

Should be a ton of cats near the mouth. If you get bored with smallies.
Some of the cats in the snake are freaking huge.
