Changing my name to "bait"
« on: August 04, 2013, 10:23:47 PM »
It's been a very interesting 2 weeks. 2 once in a lifetime encounters. Last week I ran into a cougar that had just killed a doe while scouting with my 6 year old. Today I was set up on top of a clearcut boardered by thick reprod trying to call in a bear. After about 20 minutes of blowing on the call, I saw a big horned owl fly out of the reprod. The owl made a beeline straight for me. I was well camoed and sitting at the base of a 6 foot stump. The owl swooped in maybe a foot over the top of the stump in divebomb mode. Was close enough to feel the wind from his wings flapping as he bailed out of the attack. I stayed put until dark. Saw a coyote at around 600 yards.  Another great evening in the forks area.
