Earliest I've ever seen was 2 weeks before Christmas about 15 years ago.  Don't remember the specific day.
Latest for me was Memorial Day weekend 2012.  We had the lone surviving true spike from the prior hunting season in the Colockum visit us in camp on the Sunday.  Still packing both sides.  So that would May 26th.

Saw a bull packing the other day, and saw 4 bulls tonight all of which had velvet. 2 were already 4pts :yike:

I'm not even remotely into shed hunting so I don't track it too closely but I have been watching elk from my place off an on for the last few months...seems I am still seeing an occasional spike that is carrying but from what I can tell the big bulls have dropped.  Not sure if it was just coincidence but one night I saw three bulls across the canyon (1/2 mile or more away) packing antlers and 2 days later saw what I assumed to be the same three elk with no antlers...could have been 3 different elk (cows?) but they were in the exact place I was seeing the bulls consistently. I would think it is odd for them to drop at roughly the exact same time but maybe not??

I saw a bachelor group of six this last weekend all had regrowth. Two of them were 4 points already as well. Those two bigger ones had collars and ear tags
