Dayton Area?
« on: December 06, 2008, 08:48:05 PM »
Hey everyone im new to the forums and would like to say hi to everybody. A couple years ago i was in Dayton fighting the Columbia Complex Wildfire, we were mostly in the area of Patit and N. Patit roads and starveout rd. We had many home owners tell us we could hunt on their property. Is this area a good place to hunt? Is there public land I could hunt as well? Thank for any info.

not a whole lot of public but if you got private to hunt might worth a go. what are you hunting for?

hey, i was down there too. we were up by the godman cabins and down along the tuccannon. lots of deer and elk down low. we talked with a couple of the land owners and they told us to come down and hunt. so i think if you go do some door knocking you might find somewhere to go or someone to let you hunt on their place.

There's actually quite a fair ammt of both.  Lot's of CRP land too.  My uncle lives on the Tucannon past Last Resort and tresspassing is getting to be a problem down there, so if you have an invite I'd take advantage of it- esp if it's up high on the plateaus where the Mulies are.

I've hunted modern there for whitetails but stopped after some a-hole almost shot my buddy- we were walking out of an alfalfa feild to the truck when this guy started taking shots at a running doe accross the feild- my buddy was between the doe and this chump..  funny thing is that this guy started yelling at US.  So that was enough of that.  Lot's of guys just road hunt that valley and shoot from the road, accross feilds, next to houses, etc.  I guess my point is to steer clear of the valley/whitetail areas- it can be a zoo.

Get permission from a wheat farmer to hunt for mulies and you will do well.
