Those are nice chums but no, chum does not smoke OK.  They are better grilled.  I wouldn’t waste all the time, effort and good brine on a chum.  Even bright ones.

Nice fish! Sprinkle with brown sugar and layer with onions. Bake at 375 till it flakes with fork. Save all the kings and silvers you have for the smoker.
