Hunting seat
« on: October 25, 2015, 09:59:04 AM »
As mentioned in a previous post - just getting back into hunting and first time hunting PNW area.  Grew up hunting birds and white tail in Pennsylvania.  I came to the realization yesterday morning something to sit on would be good.  My butt is not as water tight as a frogs apparently!  No matter where I found to sit the ass of my pants just soaked through.  For some reason growing up I never had a pad or seat when I was hunting.  I think the ground was either frozen or had snow on it.  I would just sit where ever in my big orange snowmobile suit.

So I want to buy something pretty portable.  I move around a bit or at a minimum hike in a few miles to get to the spot I want to sit.  Maybe something that straps to a pack.  I either run a Nimrod pack system or an Eberlestock pack.  I was thinking just a sleeping mat type pad because I usually end up on the ground or on a stump or log.

What set ups work for you guys?  Any particular brand of pad?  How do you secure to your gear while moving?  I willing to entertain an actual folding type sit as well.  I have some little tripod fold up seat but it is as stable as standing on one leg all day.

Thanks for any suggestions.

A trip to Cabela,s or any good Hunting sports store will solve your problem. I carry a small camo pad that has a snap.  Just hangs of my pack. There are many to choose from. Go lite.

I don't have one, but maybe look into what turkey hunters use.  They have a pad that straps to their pack so when they sit it is there.   :twocents:
