THIEFS!
« on: January 27, 2009, 05:12:25 PM »
Went out today and checked my line only to find I was short two traps and apparently 1 Bobcat! >:(  There was a nice pile of cat crap where my trap used to be and off to the side a nice bloody spot in the snow where they popped it. This really pisses me off!
The rest of my line has now been pulled and will be moving to a different area. If anyone hears of someone gaining a couple of traps lately in the Chewelah or Grouse Creek area let me know! I doubt they are dumb enough to leave my tags on but ya never know. These are the Hava-hart Model 1081's. I have a 1" brass tag on them with my trapper # the first two numbers are 1 and the last two are 4.

Was thinking about setting them up with a couple of trail camera's but all I have are the Cudde-back No-Flash, and I wouldn't want them disappearing on top of the rest.

That sucks. I hope you catch them. Have you reported it to F&G? They may be able to come up with something if they take the cat in.

I have been worried about mine with the little snow we have right now. I have to park in a different spot everytime and try not to leave many tracks.

BTKR,
Ya I reported it but there is not much they can do. I happen to know the local warden pretty good so she is putting the word out.

That sucks to have anything stolen. I don't trap but I know you all put alot of work into it. Hope you can catch them. You should lay some type of trap just for them. In my opinion they are poachers as well as theifs.

X2  If they kept the cat they'll have to get it sealed to get it tanned. You could find out that way and keep a blood sample from the trap site to match the sample that gets sealed...You can catch the BAS@%$DS  ]

The rest of your traps, you should engrave the bottom of the pans with your name or number.  Dumb @$$ won't look there and you may catch someone with your traps and be able to prove it.  Sorry to hear you were hit by Johnny Sneakum!  >:(

Thats exactly what I am going to do Machias, was going to do it last year but never got around to it. I like to set them where I can see them from the road with the bino's that way I dont leave any boot tracks but ya cant set them all that way.

You can use a dremel to engrave them. . .I hope you catch them as well. . .I've had my  house broken into about 3 times and I had 3 sportbikes stolen when I lived in Hawaii. . .all thiefs should go to jail immediately!!!
