kuiu 5200 or 7200 or icon pro or horn hunter full curl
« on: May 20, 2016, 02:24:21 PM »
Im starting to get into backcountry hunting, and would like some input on these 2 packs. i know that there are better packs out there, but i like these for the money. The kuiu is lighter, but I'm kinda worried about durablity. The horn hunter is cheaper, but kind of heavy. The pack will be used for 3-4 day hunts. Thanks for any advice

Lots of info on packs here, I just did a ton of research and only because I got a 25% off discount I went with the icon pro 7,200.  I also love the bag and they also redesigned the frame to make it stronger.  It's too new to me to give you a full report, hopefully after this next season I'll know more, Hersey bought the same pack so that's about all you need to know! 😜💥.  Seriously, I think you'll love the icon pro, call kuiu and ask for a 25% discount, you never know!
“In common with”..... not so much!!

If I hadn't of found a used Kifaru frame on the low low, I would have rocked the Full Curl. I'd still like to have one. 100% USA made!

I have the full curl system, if you have any questions ask. It is heavier so I mostly just use the frame. It has enough room to hold everything I need for the day without the extra day pack attached.
THe heaviest load was 130lb and it broke one of the wing straps. Besides that it's held up well for the price.
If I had to do it again I would just buy the frame part and use a dry stuff sack to carry camping gear or save up a year and buy a kifaru.

I think the only downside with the Kuiu packs is the material is fairly noisy, at least my 3200 ultra.

Kuiu Ultra material is thinner and noisier than the Pro material. Both good packs!
Shut up and Hunt!

My second pack was a Horn Hunter Full Curl.  I sold it after the season ended.  First reason was because the torso length is fixed and set at 18".  Second was there were way to many pockets.  I ended up going with a Kifaru and really like it.
