Si I picked this unfired savage lightweight hunter today. It came with ebelestock gun scabbard talley lightweight rings and two boxes of hornady super performance. 500 bucks. I have an old Centerpoint 3.5 to ten scope that was reliable on a 308 or a old leupold 4x fixed power that I'm taking of my winchester 88 and replacing with a aimpoint pro. Which scope for a mostly Westside hunting rifle. Also I'm going to run 140 gr bergers or 140 gr eldx depending. I've heard 4350 is the go to powder which I don't have. I have 4060,4831sc,varget and retumbo any of these powders have potential for 6.5 creemoor? Thanks

Creedmoor with a fixed 4x.  I like it - something different for sure!

I prefer RL-17 over H4350 in the 6.5 Creedmoor. It will give you 100fps and change over the same charge of H4350.

That cartridge is capable of reaching way out there. I would consider that when it comes to optics.

I found the Hornady match dies to be exellent when it comes to "Run out" standard sizer,  very accurate micrometer seater. $70.00 bucks or so for the dies.

Thanks hammer  this rifle has a pencil thin 20 in barrel. I have my 6.5x284 for long range. I'll be happy if I can go 400 yds with this gun on a blacktail. What are your thoughts on the lee collet die and I was thinking redding body and micrometer seater

The dies you mentioned are a good combo. I understand the light barrel situation and keeping it light. If your only shooting 400 yards are so the optics you mentioned should be fine. Not too long ago I had to decide between Savage, Kimber and Howa for a light weight Creedmoor. I ended up going with the Howa Alpine. Had to go with optics to suit the ranges I shoot at in the type of country I hunt.

Factory 129 gr hornady first 6 had heavy bolt lift. Loosend up after that. Totally different shooting thus ultralight rifle especially off a pile of fire wood. Here's a pic of my last five. Can't wait til my dies get here.
