first season looking for my first area to hunt

Hey all, been here lurking a while but have only posted a few times.  This will be my first deer (rifle  for whitetail) season and will only be able to get out for a couple day hunts this year.  my first two choices are up north of mount spokane and second would be further up near Colville possible the LPO refuge.  last choice would be over near sherman creek around kettle falls but that's a bit of a drive for a day hunt.  Any thoughts on these choices?  Gonna be out scouting most weekends in august and hopefully have a jumping off point narrowed down. 
and any tips for single day hunts?  I was just gonna drive in from spokane as far as I can early that morning and walk in till first light.  I'll be still hunting most likely.

Let your scouting determine which one. I'd also think about less drive time equals more scouting and hunting time. Even if that's an extra 30 minutes or hour a day, it could be worth it. Each area you mentioned has plenty of huntable deer.

As 92xj stated, all three areas have deer. I've hunted all three. If you're looking around LPO, you'll find better land than it. There are deer there, but there is better land around there that is state/blm that will hold more deer. I'd also strongly encourage you to look at Inland Empire Paper Co. They offer passes for day/season and they're well priced. I have seen a ton of deer shot on IEP land.

Good luck! And with a scouting trip or two, find the doe, and then during the late (nov hunt), you'll find the bucks too.
