Head Work for 5.7 Mercruiser in Seattle Area (Who is best?)
« on: August 28, 2017, 01:12:41 PM »
I had a valve burn on me and need a new set of valves in my heads.  Who is the best machine shop in the Seattle area for this kind of thing?  I'm sure an automotive machine shop will be just fine.  Taking recommendations now, please help me.  I don't want to tear this thing down again when someone does a bad job.

Call Action Machine in Shoreline 206-546-2082, talk to Rob
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I did this and will probably take to him.

I talked to a marine head shop and they were adamant that I get NEW stainless valves and valve springs given that it was a boat. This meant 2x the cost ($1000 instead of $500).  From the factory they're not even stainless.  Does anyone have any input on this?  I kind of feel like its not worth the extra $500, even though its cheap insurance as he's stated.  I don't plan on owning the boat forever... Thoughts from the shade tree mechanics?

Call T and D machine shop in Kennmore for a 2nd opinion.  I used to work at a Marina on the eastside and that's who did our machining
