We’ve hunted 388,578,560,572. Seen 3 does opening weekend in the 388. Everything else has been zeros... he says that he is having fun just don’t want him to get burned out in it before it gets good. Stuck doing the weekend thing. I’d just like him to see something that he could shoot at rather then zeros.. any thoughts for the late hunt?

Stick with it. I'm in the same boat. If anything it's good lesson in patience and perseverance for the young ones. Makes success even sweeter.

Keep it up... I was in the same boat until it finally happened this morning.  I know exactly what you are going through... I was retelling my son how it can change in a second and all of the hard work will pay off... etc.. Stick with it and it will happen eventually.

Blacktail hunting for kids is the worst. We can hunt all season in hopes to see one shooter buck even as adults. Keep him having fun and when he isn't, then call it a day.

My 11 year old is on his third year looking for his first deer,.I'm with you, it is frustrating. But lots to learn about the process on the mean time.

I’ve always done that with both my kids.. salmon fishing.. been a few times pack everything down to the river only to hear daddy I wanna go home...so pack everything up and home we go. Don’t want to be that kind of dad

The late hunt is waaaaay better than the general season. I'd give up all of the October season if I could have the late season back in this part of the state.

I agree with Fish Vac.
The Late Buck hunt is all I do on the west side and I am pretty consistent.
If I had to put a new hunter on a Blacktail, I would put my money on Late Buck.

It's definitely worth skipping school for.

Good Luck!!

Rob.
