Fly Fishing Guide Recommendations
« on: June 10, 2018, 03:11:55 PM »
One of my good buddies is getting married at the end of the month and for his wedding present a couple of us want to get him a guided fly fishing trip. We're leaning towards a trip down the yakima, but open to other suggestions.

Does anyone have a fly fishing guide they would suggest?

I’ve never gone but a dream of mine is Stehekin river.

Remote, beautiful, good fish.

I've done guided trips with both the Evening Hatch and Red's on the Yakima - enjoyed both of them very much.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I know I stopped in at the fly shop(Reds) for the first time this last week.   I was A) surprised how busy it was, and B) impressed with the selection of gear.

Done this trip a few times, I recommend staying a night or two at canyon river ranch. Nice rooms, good restaurant, pool. Quiet and peaceful. Fishing trip is great, always catch a few BIG trout. The guides I have met have all been good hardworking guys. If your open to other options, jetboat trip on the snake for oversized sturgeon is the best “fishing” trip I’ve been on.

Thanks everyone. I've heard good things about Reds so that's probably the front runner. Though the oversized surgeon sounds like a blast the guy getting married is a big time fly fisher so we want to stick with that.

There are also pay to fish lakes with some large trophy fish.  Those are probably coming to an end for spring, but will start getting hot again in September.   Last time I checked they were about 200ish for the day.  Names have no doubt changed, but I think Sun mountain is doing Moccasin, not sure who has Isaacs, or the one in Eburg.  Im not sure if Reds has that one or even if its still an option.  Bridgestone I think is what it was called or something like that.

Steve, the owner , is a very competent guide. Done a number of steelhead trips with him.

The guides at Reds have a good reputation

I would look at fishing  the Naches too

I'll second This!  Joe and the guys at Reds are top notch
