Ok I am not a big beer drinker.  In fact, I take a 12 pack to elk camp each year for a 8-10 hunt and usually bring a few home.  That is it for me for the year.  I usually get Widmer Hefeweizen, but thought trying something in a can.  I can smash them and not have as much garbage.  Is there something similar taste that they carry at Safeway?  Funny enough, I had an ice ice cold keystone light one day that someone gave me at camp after a long hot hike and it was really good.  So any good ideas of what I should pick up?
You answered your own question pard... Keystone light!

Beer snob here.

If I was buying refreshing beers for after a day of elk hunting, I’d personally get a good IPA. Lucille IPA’s are pretty user friendly. Not overly hoppy or bitter at all. No fruity-ness.

Widmer all the way. If I'm feeling energetic make it a radler/shandy with about 30 % lemonade, very refreshing after a long hot hike. As the guys have said, they do put it in a can but its hard to find and usually pushing $20 for a 12 pack.

Can you still find Schmidt’s??
It’s the official beer of the Sportsman and ice cold is pretty tasty if I remember right?
Lead em if they're running.

I think that Pabst discontinued Schmidt’s right before after they shut down our Tumwater brewery. Pabst, Oly, Schmidt, Hamm’s, Rainier, Lone Star, Pearl, Milwaukee’s Best etc are sll the same beer just not in the cool hunter oriented packaging.
After a hunt I prefer a light beer like Coors light. Nothing make me tired faster than a heavy beer. I can’t stand IPA’s. That’s probably from working at a piss beer plant for so long. 🤣

Usually I'm good for 1 beer after hunting. I like good beer and don't really drink enough to make a difference.

For something cold and refreshing, silver bullets. For something with flavor, deschutes fresh squeezed ipa.

I have found that trader Joe's has the best alcohol prices and good selection. Their Simple Times 12 pack us $8. It's 6.2 abv and a good rating beer but not too heavy feeling like an IPA. They also have a great selection of cheap whisky that is way better than most$60 bottles at around $15-25
