Steelhead fishing closed on the Snake
« on: September 27, 2019, 07:25:12 AM »
Had heard a rumor yesterday about a possible closure or going to c&r. Checked the Emergency rules this morning
and found "Section of Snake River to close to Steelhead fishing" Posted Sept 26. Has no effective date so I assume it means immediately.

Reason for action: Washington fishery managers previously reduced hatchery steelhead limits to one fish per day and added length restrictions downstream of the Couse Creek Boat Ramp. Based on the new B-index steelhead forecast, managers are closing the steelhead fishery in this area to ensure that sufficient numbers of both wild and hatchery B-index fish return to their natal tributaries and hatcheries of origin in Idaho.

Sucks. I had just cured a couple of jars of shrimp 2 days ago  :bash:

Yup they got a bunch of it closed down here as well on the main Columbia as of the 26th. Not looking good for brood fish and numbers going up.
Should hopefully open back up mid oct for coho I hope.
