The proposals that were tabled in the last 3 year plan and the ownership. I really wish there was some habitat based research.

I didn't think much of the survey request when it came out, but reading through it now, I kinda wonder why WDFW would give a crap about the relationship between age and number of points. Doesn't sound at all like anything they'd really give a hoot about.  Plus that, they already have that data available from BT studies in the '50s.  Science is pretty far removed from their deer management strategies these days.    Hidden agendas may be at work.

Seen so many big, old forkies already, hardly seems like it will correlate nicely like with whiteys.
The tree farm theory of using APRs to try for trophies for the purpose of raising prices seems likely.
If they use APRs, though, people will get tired of tag soup and might start heading east.  That seems like a bad deal for the muleys--unless WDFW has some plan for muleys.  Maybe go permit only on muleys, then expect a surge on blacktail hunting pressure....so have APRs in place to prevent too many blacktail from being taken?
Maybe they need more spikes/forkies to feed the incoming wolves?

Or is this giving WDFW too much credit?

Hard to have too much pressure on blacktails when timber companies restrict the number of hunters on their property.

These studies have been repeated over and over again. If it's not a blacktail study its a wolf, cougar or other study. They could cut thru the red tape by looking at what other states studies have concluded. I know its a way for the WDFW, WSU, etc to burn up tax payer studies and thro it under a grant study.

Sometimes a scientific study is just a scientific study, guys. You cannot predict the content of future knowledge. It's worth asking questions and finding out the answers *for their own sake,* because surprises happen all the time.

WDFW is not in the business of trying to shut down hunting. That's where their funding comes from.

I dont think the WDFW is trying to shut down hunting either. Unfortunately they have stated several times that hunter only contribute a small percentage of their budget.

They should start by requesting that same information from Muckleshoot wildlife department. They have required their hunters to do that for years. Also if they fail to submit the teeth they receive citations for not doing so.
