Museum Project
Requested Waterfowl Specimens: 2019-2020 season
Preparation of the specimen
Only submit birds that are in prime condition. Many of these birds are going to be skeletonized for the museum collection and they do not want any major broken bones.
Once the bird is collected tuck the head under the wing and tuck the feet up next to the body. Basically make the bird as small as possible without damaging the feathers.
Wrap the bird in several layers of plastic bags. Do not vacuum seal the bird. Vacuum sealing can damage the feathers. Place tape around the bag. Place the information label in a zip lock bag and tape the bag to the outside of the wrapped bird. Do not obscure the information on the label.
Freeze the bird.
Ducks will be picked up at the monthly NW Chapter meeting. Held at the Conway Fire hall 2nd Tuesday of each month 7pm.
