Turnbull Archery Bull Tag
« on: July 08, 2020, 06:47:07 PM »
I drew the Turnbull Archery Bull (Spike Only) Tag. Just received my packet from the refuge and I was assigned the Southwest section. If anybody has any input I would welcome it. I have a friend who drew a Muzzleloader cow tag there awhile ago. Other than that I donít know anyone who has done the hunt. I live in Spokane, so should be able to do some afternoon hunting on the days Iím not able to take off of work during that time.

There's an EWU masters thesis available online (albeit dated) that contains some info.

Elk hunting on Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge:
impacts on elk movement and aspen regeneration

Thanks JL. Iíll check it out. You donít get to scout until the day before the hunt so Iíll be trying to read anything I can get my hands on. And flinging lots of arrows at the target all summer of course.

I saw three spikes in about 5 hrs of scouting and hunting there. Definitely a few targets around. The elk are on the green spots. Get close ish to a group and cow call.
