Putting a bear to bed
« on: August 05, 2020, 09:19:37 PM »
So, an hour ago I spotted a AWESOME cinnamon bear. Way down in a steep canyon. I’m solo, not wanting to risk injury on a 3am pack out I decided to back out and be back at first light.

Will it be nearby? It was unaware of my presence. Good wind.

Yes. But don’t be surprised if you don’t see him until the same time tommorrow!
Just tend your own and live.

Man I hope that’s not the case! Him or one of his buddies better be at that spot at first light!

Morning bear hunting is pretty hit or miss. Less patternable IME.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Bears can wander, I cant count how many bears I have seen 1 day in places to never see again the following day.

If he has a goo d food source that will hold him there you might find him.
A bad day out hunting is better than a good day at work!

This would be my assumption as well.  I am no pro, but bears tend to follow their stomachs from what I understand.

Pay attention, it could easily be where you were trying to figure you out.  Have watched them trail people, their curiosity is epic.

It was a no go this morning. The windstorm that blew in had the wind going a different direction every time it blew so 🤷🏻‍♂️

If there are loads of ripe berries there is a good chance that the same bear or a different bear will show up again. If there really aren't many ripe berries there then there is a good chance he was just passing through looking for his next meal. Good luck!
