WA doesn’t have a teal season.  :dunno:  If they did, I would use #6.

Correct but there are still times and areas that the majority of birds you will see are teals. I hunt with 3's or 4's and still won't shoot teals unless they are more that 20 yards away. I remember one time I had a few land in my decoys on a slow day and I wanted to get the dog some work so I flushed them and shot at the farthest one out. At the same time, a close one went directly into the line of fire and I drilled it. I ended up shooting one other and when the dog came back with the close one, there was a piece of wing and small portion of the torso left.  :chuckle:

I hunt teal in Oregon.  I'm always amazed at how nimble they are at changing directions once a shot goes off.

We typically switch to #6 steel when the bulk of birds coming in are teal (some days teal are all you see early season).

Although these days I mostly just shoot #7 TSS at everything from teal to geese.

Interesting points. Seems alot of people are using #6 for teal. I like #4 because even if I dont use it all during teal it still can be used during diver season before I switch to #2.
