Peninsula hunting

Has anyone hunted any of the little lakes on the Pope (now Rayonier) property just west of the hood canal bridge? Just wondering if its worth the drive out there or if I am better off headed to the east side.

They hold bird's. But also fisherman and general recreation people, kayak's etc..
I used to hunt them allot growing up but that was 25-30 year's ago.
If you can find a secluded one behind a closed gate you'll have some luck.

If it's Rayonier there may be a permit from them required. If not yet there will be in the not to distant future. They are pay to play generally.

thanks for the heads up.
Rayonier is pay to play but their website said they are continuing to use the pope free access for hunting/recreation for the time being

I shot a few ducks on those ponds over the years. I also spent a bunch of time just talking to Maggie. It’s pretty hit or miss in my experience.

Have shot many of ducks out of those ponds in the past years but you will more than likely not see any ducks in them while late archery season is going on as most guys are parking at those gates and deer hunting in the area! If your coming from Renton its not worth the drive at the moment but you might give it a whirl later in the season...those ponds have become very well known over the years
Good luck and i hope you get some ducks
