Backpacking with a belly. How to wear the waist belt?
« on: December 30, 2020, 12:52:02 PM »
So ive been using a horn hunter full curl as a day pack the past few years. Its way more comfortable to wear through the day then the other bags I've tried (Walmart and cabelas bags mostly).
The problem is, I cant stop it from slipping when I get more then about 25-30# in it. I've been wearing the waist belt right on top of my belt line, which appears to be the problem I'm assuming.

Im at 6'4, with a big gut. To get the waist strap over my hip bones, Ill have to move the waist belt way up from where I currently wear it and probably crush it tight into my gut.

Is this how you other big guys wear your packs? I haven't tried it yet, but it seems its what I need to do I guess?

I have the same exact pack.  I havent really had a probelm with wearing it at my belt line but havent had much more than 20 lbs in it.

yeah with lighter loads it works great! I bought this pack used, I think from someone on here, about 6 years ago. its got tons of miles on it and is still in great shape.

Ill probably upgrade to a seek outside later this year, just because I like their packs a bit more, and I don't have enough room in this one unless I run the duffle, in which case I have way more room then needed, and cant strap meat on as easy.

It did haul a full antelope out in Wyoming a couple years ago, little over 1 mile to the truck. I feel like if it wasn't constantly slipping down and making the load lifters non functional it would have been a more comfortable haul. Sure looked goofy with a full animal strapped in like a baby carrier lol
