AR Handguard Help
« on: July 22, 2021, 01:59:19 PM »
Alright, long story short, my girlfriend ended up buying a bunch of AR parts from her friend's ex-boyfriend before they broke up.

I'm putting it together for her now, and her handguard doesn't have any sort of branding on it to identify where it came from, and it's missing the anti-twist screws that clamp the handguard around the barrel nut. I suppose they're not exactly needed, but I need them.

I took it into Home Depot today and tried basically every cap screw I could find and couldn't get one to fit right. There are so many threads/posts online about handguards, I can't figure out if there is a standard thread pitch or something for handguards, but I assume there isn't.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? Perhaps you could identify this generic looking handguard for me.

I'll also note, there isn't branding on ANY of her AR parts to help me start my search anywhere ;)

LASTLY, I can't seem to post pictures soooo I'll try later on a different computer... I hit "post" and it takes me to a white page after it loads. Refreshing says I'm double posting, and then my post doesn't show up :o

Ace or True value hardware stores have better hardware selections.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Noted, I'll run by there when I have another chance!

Post that hand guard on https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/
Someone will know. It does not look like it has a heat shield?

Ps: I would be a bit leery doing a build with parts I am not sure where who made them.
But that is just me.

Take a picture of the bottom by the screw holes.  Also a pic of the inside (same end).   If it’s what I thin it is, you are missing two pieces along with the screws.   I’ll take pics of one I have for comparison and post soon.

Looks like a UTG likely bought at sportsman’s
