Got my new hut up first time, weather nice didn't really meed it but wanted to practice putting it up.

Got half a bucket of perch to clean now
Oh wow, that’s nice! It takes a couple of set ups to get it right. Cool that you got one though. We’ll have to do an Eskimo-off at Curlew in a couple of weeks.

Got out for a couple of hours today on Cocolalla, just south of Sandpoint, ID.  More of a scouting trip.  Did not get any fish, but I know when and where to go the next time.

Hey, i live a block west of Cocolalla lake!  I have seen a lot of folks ice fishing the lake since we moved here.  Going to give it a try sometime.

How thick was the ice?

Hey, there’s some good lessons to be learned out there. Like how a sonar works, dissecting a worm, and a little sled pulling for p.e. That’s more than what most kids get out of a week or more of public school  :tung: . Looks you had a good haul out there!

It was 7 or 8 inches thick.  When you get ready to go, let me know and we'll hook up.  I learned some things yesterday that should help the next time I go out.  :)

Cool.  It will likely be next year before I can give it a go on my own - I have zero gear or idea what I am doing.  But given the opportunity is literally a 2 min drive away I think I need to figure it out.  If you want a rookie to help haul your gear next time give me a poke!

If you have an ultralight pole and some jigs, you're set.  :)  I'm going to try and hit it a night or two after work next week, if I'm able.

If you want company let me know.  I have private walk-in access (~75 yard walk to the water) on the West shore, south end.  Most folks seem to fish on the North end but that could be due to access via the boat launch.

Did Thomas lake today,

https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/locations/lowland-lakes/lake-thomas

scored a few more trout and a number of perch, average size of perch was smaller than Curlew, they would have went back in the water if they weren't corked in the ice hole.   Hooked a few too small crappie that went back in the water.

12" white ice
