Matt, quit rubbing it in, Ok? PM you tomorrow.

Hey hunt smarter not harder.  :IBCOOL:  Heck if it wasn't for the insane number of hunters this season would have been 100%.  That's public land for ya though.  It's getting to be like the Nile over there now.  I think that I will have a change of stratagy for next year.

Ya, bulls pretty much shut down to calling after about the third or fourth day.  Had a few close encounters but all in all, I would say the taneum side of the Peaches units sucked.  Even the bulls I had close, it was so thick you could not see them within 20 yards, damn reprod and the bulls would not come out of it.  They don't get big by being stupid I guess.  Coach, all my pre-season scouting was for naught.  Local outfitter had one or two camps up in the drainage and ridge and found out that there was two other camps set up in there also.  WHY, WHY, WHY would you set up camp right in the elks bedroom and feeding area.  Too lazy to hike uphill from the bottom I guess.  Did a lot of hiking, lost 10 pounds, glassed 1000's of acres and trashed my knees.  Beautiful country, to bad the elk all got pushed out.  Next time maybe.

That's about what happened to us. That's why we had to move out to many people. Pretty much gave up my season cause i was the only one without a big bull tag. went 1 for 2 in the Little Naches. I missed my opportunity in the Taneum. I was sleeping at 1 p.m. and had a cow and spike at 30 yards. Next time i will have my bow ready. My fault.

yeah, i dont know about some of those outfitters.... we would put some bulls to sleep at night, then first thing in the morning an outfitters rig was parked there(on 3 different occasions). i sware they were trying to hunt the bulls we had bugling, then all elk activity stopped on friday once the jeep jamboree started.... we were camped on clover springs road right off the nile, and we had to listen to live music up the road from camp!!!! unbelievable...oh well, now i know what to expect next time i get drawn. i guess waking up at 4:30 every morning and being on the hill by 5 wasnt early enough.......

Tough luck men , I think that some of those peaches bulls cruised down for A COW ENCOUNTER. Did any of you guys with a bull tag hunt moonlight ridge , i saw bulls shoot over there when these idiots went right into the saftey zone wind at there backs , would have been nice to see a warden . I was getting concerned that I wasn't gonna close the deal on a bull . It seems that our new bow hunters will cut you off and sit right bellow you, rembers me of rifle hunts. Hey how about if there's three rigs parked in a spot you try some where else , or back up the hill and let them come out . coach

You can add me to the tag eatin group    :'(  Had a good time, called in some bulls, got winded a lot, had some set ups ruined by other hunters, hiked a lot, lost some weight, met up with Teacherman Chris and hunted with him the second to last evening and last morning, drug M-ray there the first weekend and Longtat the last weekend (Longtat stinks that may have been the problem), and learned a lot of good country.

Didn't see her but did see two guys who must have thaught the field behind the creek was open , really blatant two. they had tree stands right at the back of the field . pretty tough getting into those stands without spooking them. thats a pretty good thing if the guys would back off and let those elk come out on there own, they were really leary even opening morning .

My little brother made a rookie mistake and missed an opportunity at a 20 yard shot at a 300 class bull. He proved he is commited. Hunted the season with the exception of the last four days by himself.
That is the worse action I have seen in the Little Naches. Obviously more rifle hunters are picking up bows and hunting there rifle ways. Had several guys drive up to clearcut and while there rig was running, roll there window down and cow call with the rig running. No response, they drove offf.
The biggest *censored* move I have ever seen in all my years of hunting happen yesterday morning. We are on our last hunt and we are working a bull in a drainage and a four wheeler come up and turns his bike off near my truck. I'm down there thinking, is this guy ripping me off??? Couple minutes later, he lets out the most god awful bugle I have ever heard. I marched up the hill and was ready to rip his end off and when I pulled up on him, saw that he had a little kid with him. His little kid saved him from an ass whipping/chewing depending on his attitude. Looking forward to going out of state again next year.
On an end note, those October 1 hunters are going to have some nice bulls to take. The four pictures included a cow!
Nice talking to the guys I met up there.

I ate my Peaches tag again. I saw only three bulls the two weeks I was hunting. A four point, a spike and a two by one. I called in three cows trying really hard to put a rack on them. I got alot of answers with my bugle, put everytime I followed the bugle, it was coming from a deep drainage. The cows came in on a primos maka bull crazy call.  :dunno: Good luck to all on the late hunt.

Being 46 and hunting by myself, I found other hunters and told them where the bugles were coming from. I talked to one of the hunters the next day and he said he chased a 6x6 to the next county. He had 10 cows with him.  The final morning I got an answer from a bull down a canyon and I waved two hunters down. They said no thanks, it was too steep. I had a blast though.

Man, Jim, I can't believe that someone would say "no thanks" on the final morning because it was steep.

If I draw that tag in the future, I hope I meet someone like you...way to brave the tough stuff to try and get it done.  Sorry you didn't make it happen - sounds like you tried hard.
