N-560???
« on: July 01, 2024, 08:31:14 PM »
I had a custom 6.5 PRC built and the gunsmith included some hand loads.  They are an absolute tack driver, but now I can't find the VihtaVuori N-560 powder anywhere to reload.  Its out of stock at every place I've looked.  Does anybody have an idea of where to find some, or better yet anyone willing to hook a brother up?  I'd be happy to compensate.

Many thanks.

I'll sell you a pound of N560 if you are still in need.

I have found several powders I needed in the following online stores:
- PowderValley
- Natchez shooter supply
- Midsouth shooter supply
- Brownells

Let me know. I am in Everett, WA.

I'm no help but I was at a Scheels in Illinois last month and couldn't believe all the powders they had in stock on the shelves. No popular powder was out of stock. It made me think Washington is making it difficult for our stores.

Not only WA, but also California.  Not sure about OR.

Yes, Scheels in Billings MT and Reno NV had all kinds of powders and primers.

N560 is very easy to find online.

https://www.brunoshooters.com/product/vihtavuori-powder-n560-8lb/?utm_source=shootingbot.com

This seems like the best price per pound online right now. But shop around a bit.

Nobody has guns anymore in Illinois so why buy powder. 🤡

Be advised that N560 burns HOT. It's easy to let your rate of fire get too high and burn out a barrel throat. Use a barrel cooler like this https://magnetospeed.com/products-riflekuhl?srsltid=AfmBOoox9l2kky5O4YQhjMyPh-BsFb5z-xLpq4WWPri79G0nSEwSlv1k

or use this with a few inches of 3/8" tubing https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-Kobalt-24V-Max-Cordless-High-Volume-Inflator-Powered-by-Kobalt-24-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Sold-Separately/5015161115?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-tol-_-ggl-_-PMAX_TOL_000_Priority_Item-_-5015161115-_-local-_-0-_-0&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiOy1BhDCARIsADGvQnDkr5Whii5TCwIA83IBgVJTuoBiYmtSJGUulpdc4OLONa_7w9qRKBgaAh_eEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

to keep your bore cool.

My brother over in TN can get pretty much any powder or primers he needs right off the shelf.

One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset
