Tract D and the Yakama Nation
« on: May 09, 2025, 09:33:22 AM »
Has anyone got more information about Pale-skin access to the Tract-D area of the Yakama Nation? I've gotten conflicting reports. WDFW and Yakama nation website last year said hunting was allowed, but could change. I also have talked with people who were stopped and told they couldn't hunt within tract D last year by tribal police.

I've been hunting tract D for almost 20 years, with my dad hunting it before that, and his father before that, and I think even my great grandfather hunted it a few times. Maybe he should have signed an ambiguous treaty.  :dunno:

last year was not an issue, actually some previously posted paper closed areas were posted accessible. I believe state working with tribe specifically on that.

I didn't spend generations hunting tract D but I wasted several years scouting and hanging around over there, really enjoyed it. I looked pretty extensively into buying a license from the tribe instead of WDFW but found the actual access map. It was several 25ish acre parcels that were unconnected labeled "WHITES ONLY AREA" and after that I was out.

Tons of logging properties sold there in last couple years.  Not much game on State Lands.  I would look elsewhere.

Thanks guys.
Those were three completely different answers to the same question. So I guess the consensus is that nobody knows for sure what access looks like.

If I find out anything else I'll post it to this thread.
