Yeah, got the email today.  I watched the video they linked.  Doesn't look too terribly hard to locate and remove the lymph nodes.  Gonna be a pain to take them to a site to drop them off though.  I hope all this is actually necessary...

I wonder how they enforce non compliance here. Through harvest reporting? I genuinely hope everyone does comply. I'd like to see the results.

Wish they'd make it a little more convient.  Seems like maybe a roving test situation or two rotating around with scheduled stops would be a good idea. I've seen several done and the techs doing only took 10 minutes or so to do it.  I've got a drive a fair distance to get it done and then only during their stated time frame.  I suspect the inconvenience is gonna lead to a lot of non compliance.

The day that we can test for CWD in the field will be a good one. You can also mail frozen glands to a testing site. The instructions on how to do that are in the link that I posted. I wonder if brain tissue is an ok substitute for the glands. I always remove deer brains with a clothes hanger before I take in to get euro’d. I would rather not have to dig around its neck for glands that aren’t obvious.

When I've watched em do it the glands were actually pretty easy to spot.  Of course they knew what they were doing. We've only had one positive out of several tested. Guess we could do the mail in thing, but I'll probably just make the drive.

Why?  Are they seeing a rise in cases?  I believe last years big outbreak was a couple road kill?  Are they making the reporting  less intrusive? (was told they wanted gps coordinates?)  I don't trust these clowns regardless...my opinion.  So what if I don't report?  This doesn't smell right to me.  Why were they not concerned when deer were dropping dead everywhere during the blue tongue outbreak?  I have many questions, before I'm convinced....Kinda like the ole clot shot..... :dunno:

I'll do it because I've said in other posts I've seen first hand what this crap can do..not sure if what they're doing will help or not, but I'd rather be seen as part of the solution than part of the problem. Blue tongue is spread totally different than cwd and really not much they could do to stop it. It is not passed on by other deer like cwd

Yes they do ask for GPS coordinates,no big deal.
You can just give general area type stuff. County Rd ,GMU,ect.
I had my harvests tested last year, never gave coordinates.
Just a general area , mountain, creek,or road name they will accept.

They do have drop boxes for glands or heads. They say they check them once a week. If you can hit a check station on the weekend and give a fresh sample, probably better results then some week old stinky sample.

The wait time is a joke,it's what we have right now.
Hopefully that can be reduced in the future.
I did a euro last year,I removed the lower jaw and small portion of neck and tossed it in the box. They still was able to get a sample.

Hopefully that answers some questions.

My personal opinion.
Most likely if I'm successful again,I will have it tested.
Even though I'm very disappointed in the CWD regulations.
When I tested last year ,I was under the impression that the information would be used to impose CWD regulations for infected GMU. Not statewide bait bans. My fear with more testing is more opportunities will be lost.

I'll just say it here.
If your not prepared to bone out your meat, have your animal tested, clean and scrape your euro till all tissues are removed.
Then the 100 GMU units are not really an option or 100 GMU shouldn't be in your hunting plans.
Even if you decide to skip the testing, bone out, tissue removal should still be in your plans.

It easy to remove them, they aren’t going to send out envelopes to mail them in?

Harvest rate should go down a bit since guys that won’t mess with reporting will also say they didn’t harvest as well.  Does that increase future tags or decrease?

Yep. NO WAY CWD could kill half as many deer as their pet predators since there aren't but 15% left of what the NE started with before they annointed them as priority.

Mandatory testing in the eastern region…. Currently, it’s 4 to 6 weeks…
Do you think it’ll go faster when they’re suddenly flooded with hundreds of samples?
I’m not that optimistic…
Expect results in 3 to 4 months… just a guess…
