Shuttle T (LEGAL) per WDFW
« on: August 25, 2009, 07:14:38 PM »
Jerrod Lile from Trophy Taker asked me to post this, it is the response from the WDFW regarding the Shuttle T and the Terminal T broadheads being LEGAL in the state of Washington. As I said before, everyone has there own opinion about broadheads but now at least you know that the Shuttle T & Terminal T ARE LEGAL and you can use them if you so choose.  :IBCOOL:

Jerrod Lile
Trophy Taker, Inc
Montana

Dear Jerrod:

Thank you for inquiring about the legality of your Shuttle T-Lock and Terminal T-Lock broadheads for hunting big game in Washington State.

The broadhead rules adopted by our state’s fish and wildlife commission require a cutting diameter no less than seven-eighths inch wide, a blade completely closed at the back end of the blade by a smooth, unbroken surface starting at the maximum blade width forming a smooth line toward the feather end of the shaft, and such line not angling towards the point.  Based on the pictures you provided it appears that your broadheads meet all of our described criteria.

Please feel free to share a copy of this letter with your vendors and anybody else who may have questions about the legality of these broadheads for hunting big game in Washington State.

Sincerely,

Mik Mikitik

I want to congratulate Jerrod and Trophy Taker for gaining approval from the state of washington. Although it is contrary to what enforcement told me earlier this year, I am still happy for all that it is resolved.

If apologies are felt necessary, then you have mine. Keep in mind that my position was to prevent anyone from getting in trouble. I have never had any issues with Trophy Taker as a company.

Good luck to all no matter which broadhead you use.

Why was there any question to it's legality?  Seems pretty straight forward and you look at the BH it does meet it all.  I used them last year.

There is a whole thread as to why that occurred having to do with the back of the broadhead sloping towards the feathered end of the arrow.  Easy to misinterpret.  The Shuttle Ts (and the Strikers) have a slight slope toward the back of the arrow, making them legal.  You actually have to take the blade out and put it against something that is a right angle to see it.  They are like 88 or 89 degrees instead of 90 degrees.

XxX I actually have a pack of those, I'll check them and take a pic. Or have you already checked them? Talking with TT they are the same angle, but I'll double check anyway and post the pics.
