Buck Down!
«

How do I start? After weeks of scouting and prep, my week of deer hunting could not have gone any worse. The full moon had all the deer coming out at night and were no where to be found during shooting hours. We got rained on, snowed on, Lightning tagging everywhere, soaked to the bone, but I kept on. I had decent 3 points and small 4s every day under the stand, but I was waiting for the 2 big boys that i had seen during the scouting season.
Finally at first light on Saturday morning here they came. They surprised me, it was like one second there were no deer at all, then boom, there they stood 60 yards coming right at me. After a few stare downs I finally drew back and let the arrow fly at the deer I had been waiting my entire life to get. And then I heard the most upsetting thing I had heard in my entire life. The arrow had hit a tree limb about 10 yards in front of him. I dont no how I didnt see the limb before the shot, all I can remember is trying to wait for the perfect shoot, and I still blew it.
After beating my self up for the next 30 minutes, I decided that the next legal deer to come into shooting range was going to give up the ghost! All I can hope for is that they live through the season and give me another chance.
A bonus..some grouse over the camp fire!

Thanks guys! Im happy that Ive got meat and that I had a good time. The thing that kills me is my season is over. All I can think about is getting back in that tree stand
.
But over all It was a very memorable hunt!
