Boats dead on the water, need help!!!
« on: February 22, 2010, 11:29:18 AM »
I was out fishing yesterday and motored down river about 3/4 of a mile, boat was running fine, shut it off and fished about an hour, went to start it and would'nt start was just turning over. I could see when I pumped the primer bulb gas spewing out of the carb, almost like the float is stuck and the motor was flooded. I tried waiting it out to see if the fuel would evaperate out of the carb but nothing. It got dark and my boat is on the river bank. I'm leaving work early today to try and get it going, does anyone have any suggestions what could possibly be wrong? It's definitly a fuel issue. If I cant get it started I will hire someone who has a sled to pull me to the launch, there is 1 nasty riffle that we would have to go through, but other than that it's only 3/4 of a mile from the launch. Thanks all!!                                      Martinhunter

What river, I have a sled too and might be able to help. What engine, maybe we can get it going.

Sorry guys to leave you hanging, I was really buissy this evening, I first of all want to say how much I appreciate you guys who were willing to change plans and help me out. I'm very thankfull to have a web site were we can comunicate to fellow outdoorsman and give each other a hand when it's needed. I know that I will definately be there to help anyone on this site if they need help and If I can do anything to help. I was able to get my boat going this evening, my float in the carb was sticking, but I was able to get it fired up and ran it back up river to the launch. I'm going to go through the carb and rebuild it if needed so that never happens again. Thanks everyone again for your willingness to lend me a hand, it shows real class!!                        Martinhunter

I don't care if you're on the river, out on the sound, on the ocean seas.. There's a brotherhood between boat owners. Sure, ya'll are out there fighting for position for the same lunker fish in that favorite hole, but there's the safety factor when boating, that things can get real ugly really fast, that brings that brotherhood together just as fast. A stranded boat gets help from people that boat owner doesn't even know.  -unlike that stranded motorist on the side of I-5 that's blocking a lane.

It's good to see that sort of support. Glad you got it running.

Be safe on the water.
