Were they dead?  If not, it is not uncommon for the parents to be out looking for food at the same time when the weather is decent.

i dont know what happened......this nest was really close to my back deck and since it finally got nice out we were spending time out there and the parents must of got nervous or something.  the babies were alive the other day and when i checked the next morning they were dead. :dunno:

Too bad, at least there's no shortage of robins... they seem to be plentiful enough to eat a lot of my strawberries.

The parents may have been killed by a car, or a cat etc...I used to find nests like that as a kid and see dead adult robins in the street or chewed up in the yard...
