i'd take the 444 marlin good short light and has enough power to knock down even on of the biggest bears being as i've hunted bears many times with hounds i highly doubt your shot will be more than 30 yards i think that the 444 would be the best gun for that hunt now if were spot and stalk i would choose the 300

if using hounds your shot should be close and the 444 is the way to go from the guns you listed. will take the fight right out of any bear around :twocents:

If you are going to be doing alot of walking, following the dogs, I would say which ever one is the lightest.
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

WSM Buck, will they let you shoot if you have a shot with the dogs safely out of the way, or when the dogs have him bayed up?  Some ?'s you might want to ask.  Regardless that Browning 300wsm is gonna get the job done on any situation,, just keep the scope turned down low, sighted in at 100yrds. and know where it hits at 30, 40, and 50 yrds.  Have a blast. :)   :)

They told me 99% of the time he will be treed so the dogs will be clear, and shots should all depend on how high he climbs. Thanks
