Bears were out this afternoon
« on: September 03, 2010, 08:33:12 PM »
OK, so I'm on the back deck and grilling a deer burger when my sheep snorted and ran away from the back of the barn at nearly the speed of sound. I looked at the chickens and they were frozen in step.
I reached back in the house to grab old reliable and then ran out there. There was a bear and it had just gone through the narrow green belt. I waited but it kept on going away. Darn!
Then the ole ball and chain sent me to town for some ice cream so we could finish up the huckleberry/strawberry syrup we made a couple days earlier. Just before I get to the store, I looked off to my left where I often see deer and there was a bear feeding in the small field instead.
On the way home, I saw a BT doe in another yard.

Nice day!

The thing must have been huge. It caused this -

That is right where I live (give or take the distance it traveled in those few minutes). If I nail it, I'm certain I will need help with it.  :hunter:
