Need a little advice for my wife's late Malaga cow tag
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:32:03 PM »
Work has been a nightmare this fall and I have not been able to spend the time over there since we moved back to Mount Vernon.  I know the area somewhat but haven't spent nearly enough time there.  Any tips/pointers on where to start looking?  I know that it depends largely on the weather and whether there is any early snow.  If anybody has any insight into the area I would greatly appreciate it.  She is really pumped as she has never shot an elk before and I really don't want to let her down as it appears my weekends will be spent working.

Thanks

I tagged my first elk this year with the early Malaga cow tag. I know how it can get with work and scouting. I live within eyesight of most of that unit and still had a hard time making time to get up and scout it for my hunt. I'll send you a pm and give you any insights I have found. Good luck to your wife.

Hey guys, update.  Been out a few times and have seen a lot of sign in the timber, problem is, that's all that we can find.  Have seen elk but mostly on private land.  I am taking my wife out this weekend again and could use a little help.  Anybody that lives in the area have any input?  I have talked to the people I know and nobody has been seeing much.  I figured with the snow they would be moving more but we are living on the wet side right now and I just haven't had time to beat the brush so to speak.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
