ordered new rifles
« on: March 28, 2008, 06:05:05 PM »
Sold my Tikka Tactical 223,
ordered two new Tikkas, getting a T3 stainless/synth. 223 and a Laminated stainless 243.

Yeehaw.

I have a Leupold (s): 2.5X8 VXIII and a 4.5X14 VXIII. I think the 2.5/8 on the 223, and the 4.5 on the 243.
Still have my 22-250 with Leupold 3.5X10 VXIII.
I think I might have enough predator rifles???
LOL

Not  yet !

Don't see a Hornet or .17 for cats and fox or a short light .25 for big cats.  Then theres the ones painted white for winter and the ones painted light brown for the desert and the dark one for the big timber.  What no wildcats?  I see a need for at least 10 more.

Nice selection on the few you have.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I wanted to add that I ordered at the new store in Rochester, Wild West Guns, the 223 is a T3 lite stainless/synthetic for about 565. and the 243 is a laminated wood/ stainless T3, for about 600. The deal is they show you the price they pay add $50.00 or 10% which ever is higher. plus the govts. tax of course.
From what I checked that was cheaper than Cabelas, Sport.Warehouse or East County Guns.
Went over to the fairgrounds and the gun show too, saw some old friends, had a good day!

The TikTac's are really horribly made. Over $1K for a milk jug handle and milk jug magazine, replete with fiendishly short COAL latitude. Though they twist their 223's 1-8",they are sooooooo short in mag confines, that one can't magfeed anything much beyond 1-12" fodder.

Too bad they don't go back to their elder lineage and do them in Walnut with stippling and add mag constraints condusive to twist rate.

A 2.500"-ish COAL 1-8" Walnut TikTac 223,would be a wicked rig....................

If I had to, I would sell every remington I own to get tikkas. seeing another post of yours, I have owned two Weatherbys.
first time I saw a tikka I hated it, second time I shot one I fell in love.
that tactical rifle would group 5 hornady vmax 55's in to less than 1/4 inch. I got rid of all my heavy barrel rifles. All my tikkas and all I have sighted in for folks have met or beaten the accuracy claims. (My brother has a gun store and I sight/test fire rifles for him and customers sometimes) As for Kimbers I like the looks, quality control has been a problem, of the Kimbers I like the Phoenix, I dont like the feel of the Montana.
The trigger guard does not bother me, I have never had trouble with one an any rifle. I love the magazine, never will it have bent feed lips.
A question for gunsmiths: Would it be possible to open up the ejection port some? as one does with a 1911 45?
thanks
Carl
